Dialysis is a fact of life for many patients with chronic kidney disease. Learning how to make the time spent on dialysis meaningful and restful has been challenging and for me, over time it has become a silver lining. My best insights as a doctor have come through the experience of being a patient. On dialysis, I never have to worry about losing touch with being the patient.
